Terms and Conditions

  • Processing of Summer Aid Requests can take up to two (2) weeks. Students are required to monitor their awards, messages, and any additional information needed for the GHC Office of Financial Aid through the Check My Aid Status link in SCORE.

  • For federal aid, a 2018-2019 FAFSA must be completed at www.fafsa.gov.

  • For state aid only, you must complete a GSFAPP (Georgia Student Finance Application) at www.gafutures.org.

  • You must be meeting SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) at the end of the Spring 2019 semester in order to be eligible for financial aid for the Summer 2019 semester. In order to maintain SAP, you must have at least a 2.0 GPA, complete 67% of the classes you attempt, and complete your program of study in 150% of the time it takes to complete the program. The full Satisfactory Academic Progress policy can be found on the GHC Office of Financial Aid website.

  • You will be required to complete all requirements listed on your SCORE account before you will be evaluated for financial aid awards. If you used your full Pell Grant eligibility during Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters, then you must have at least 6 eligible credit hours in order to receive the additional Pell Grant.

  • In order to receive a loan, you must be registered for at least 6 eligible credit hours. You must also complete Entrance Counseling and sign the Master Promissory Note, both of which can be completed at www.studentloans.gov.

  • If you received the full annual loan amounts for Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized loans for the aid year, you may not have loans available for summer.

  • If schedule adjustments are made after your summer aid was determined, it is your responsibility to email finaid@highlands.edu to notify the GHC Office of Financial Aid that you wish to take a loan and your credit hours meet the minimum requirement to have your loan added to your award.

  • HOPE and Zell Scholarship funds may be awarded tentatively for the summer semester. However, eligibility will be checked at the end of spring and eligibility may change. Final HOPE and Zell awards will not be guaranteed until spring grades are processed by the Registrar’s Office.

  • Check your SCHEDULE/BILL to view your account balance and any authorized aid, especially after any and all schedule adjustments and prior to ALL Fee Payment Deadlines.

  • Any BALANCE DUE listed on your SCHEDULE/BILL must be paid in full by the Fee Payment Deadline. If your eligibility for summer aid has not been determined in time for a Fee Payment Deadline, or a BALANCE DUE is listed after your aid is credited towards your balance; it is the student’s responsibility to make sure it is paid on time.

  • If a cancellation of funds is requested by the student, a Financial Aid Cancellation Request form must be submitted to the GHC Office of Financial Aid for processing. This form is available on the GHC Office of Financial Aid website under FORMS.

  • NOTE: Any schedule changes made after your summer aid request has been processed could result in aid adjustments up to and including possible removal of funds.

I am submitting my request for Summer Aid with the understanding of my student responsibility and the terms of Summer Awarding.
